Queer Poems, by Mr Adriano Bulla

The desperate search for rhythm and rhyme in these Queer Poems, through intense imagery, assonance, alliteration, lines that match in rhyme yet not in rhythm, broken lines, quirky grammar that seems to have no resolution reflects the experience of frustration of all the pariahs of a society that still promotes prejudice, discrimination and injustice yet calls itself 'civilised'.

These poems are a cry for the right to be really equal on behalf of all the downtrodden, all those who suffer from injustice, be they the homeless, the poor, those women whose marriage ends up being the prison of domestic violence, the LGBT community and more, and follows the path explored by Eliot's 'Preludes' in translating frustration and the quest for freedom and respect of far too many people into the search for form and structure in poems that seem to have a glimpse of form, but do they really have it?

Shadow Whisper

Behind the bleeding veils of coarse

Corrosive cords of linen stiffened

In the breath that freezes stars

And chokes the Moon in solitary

Nights, the blighted cries of voices

Moist with poisoned spells

Of Hell

Are drawn on charcoaled canvas cut

And torn by time

When echoes shadow sparks

In embers stifled under scars

Like drops of thoughts that thaw in thick

Black holes devouring dry, deserted

Worlds with wanton words and woes -

And stares –

Behind the curtains no one cares.

Diversity and the search for compassion
By Grady Harp
Adriano Bulla defines himself 'a servant of Calliope': he does not choose when to write; poems and prose come to him unexpectedly, with a force he cannot resist. Born in Italy, he now lives in London, his adoptive city. He has always refused to stick to genres and formats, experimenting with new voices and new forms of expression - poems he terms flicker poems.

The preface from the publisher of this volume states Bulla's intentions and success well: QUEER POEMS is a collection of poems about 'queer' people, feelings and situations. It is about the soul of the downtrodden, the disenfranchised, the sufferers of this world, Queer Poems, often dark and intense, includes texts about LGBT issues, androgyny, polygamy, domestic violence, rape, homelessness, and more. Intense imagery and hinted rhymes play with the rhythm and structure of the poems, by the author himself described as 'following the way T.S. Eliot's 'Preludes' opened'.

Lament to Lust
In waves who surge along the Wolds
The stars are kissing leaves that rust
With memories of lust and glow
On parted lips and burning eyes
Like raging fires lost in caves
Embracing secrets past in sighs
That whisper far, forgotten tales
Of pain and joy;
Of lutes strung on remote refrains
In search of unison and lain
Like lambs on altars to be slain.

Armoured Hearts

Forever lost upon the shore
With shells of smiles that shift
The sand left standing soft with scorn
But dry as skin sloughed off by snakes
That burn on pyres high above the tide
Absconded by a Sun that that sees
No sighs in silent lights
Yet cast-off clothes so sparkling bright
Like armoured hearts upright at morn
To face the fleet of flotsam found
Upon the waves of woven words
Winking at the wind that woes In whispers

Adriano Bulla is a poet who gets our attention and holds it well. Grady Harp, March 15

A Beautiful Collection of Poetry
By D Roberts
Queer Poems by Adriano Bulla is a rewarding collection of mixed and eclectic poetry that is as rich and diverse as the subject matter that it takes on and explores. One of my favorites, Dusty Grins is wonderful in its delivery and tone, giving you the sense that you’re taking this sidewalk stroll yourself. I liked Never Mind, a part of me feels I got it and could enjoy the beauty that it takes from its form and the path that it follows. The Drip of Copper was wonderfully insightful and a bit sad. Reflection Past is short yet, says quite a great deal. And Between the Drops is very moving. The author is outstanding and does a beautiful job in the delivery and expression that he presents in this moving reflection of an often marginalized and or silenced community of people.

Brillant
By Vanessa Vanney Thompson
Queer Poems written by Adriano Bulla is an emotional twist that relates to the world as an whole!

Mr. Bulla uses words within his writing that give the reader something to think about and maybe run towards the dictionary.
I enjoy the man who wrote these extra-ordinary pieces of poetry. He is defending, speaking out, and or bringing awareness to
those who feels or been left out of society because of sexual preference, race or homelessness.

All the pieces touched my heart and I will have to read this book more than once. However, Born in Between had meaning and was talking to me: "By tongues and claws of ignorant sandpaper."

The "Queer Poems" can also bring solace to ones soul, give the reader a thing or two to think about and finally have you search within your heart and have you think and react differently towards another human that is different from you.

Thank you Mr. Bulla for sharing your inner thoughts thru your poems and writing. Much thanks!
