Great start to a new series

Very Brief Synopsis - Chance used to work for Gwen's father, but has branched out with two of his childhood friends to form his own private security firm. While he worked for Gwen's dad, he and Gwen became close, but Chance was not willing to cross the professional line and become involved with Gwen. When she makes an overture and he turns her down, things between Gwen and Chance got frosty. When Chance rescues Gwen from a rebound romance gone bad, she tells Chance she doesn't want to see him again.
When Gwen's father approaches Chance with a plea to secretly provide 24/7 protection to Gwen, who is being stalked, Chance seizes the opportunity to try to make amends. Gwen is cautious, and not clear on Chance's timing and motives.
What worked for me - Chance - It is rare to see an alpha talk about his feelings, but Chance knows he has to be as forthcoming and open as possible in order to have a shot at getting Gwen back into his life. He has missed her, he knows he loves her, and he isn't trying to hide that fact. Chance never came across as needy. He just knew what he wanted - Gwen - and pulled out all the stops to get her. Swoon worthy!
Gwen - Strong, smart and savvy, Gwen is no pushover. Her father has left her with a distaste for men who want to control her existence. She is suspicious of Chance, but wants to believe he cares for her. I loved her!
The suspense - there are a lot of twists and turns and a sympathetic potential villain. I certainly didn't figure it out until the reveal.
Great secondary characters - Chance's partners, Lex and Dev, as well as Ethan and his lawyer, Sophie. Lots of potential for this series!
Bottom line - Suspense, heart felt alpha emotions, smokin' smexy times, a smart shero...Lots to love here. Well written and fast paced. Highly recommend!

Chance Valentine is finally realizing his dreams of starting his own security company when his former employer approaches him with a job that he can't refuse. Someone is stalking Gwen Hawthorne, a beautiful D.C. blue blood, and her father wants Chance to be her bodyguard. But there was a reason Chance left his position with Will Hawthorne, he could no longer keep his hands off the boss's daughter. But Gwen's father, and Chance, know that he will protect Gwen with his last breath. As danger surrounds them passion ignites. Can Gwen forgive Chance's past betrayals enough to allow him by her side, and back into her heart? Or will the stalker steal their second chance at love?
Watch Me was a light and easy romantic suspense that I flew through. Chance and Gwen have a past so there is already chemistry between the characters right away. However, there is very little back story given, which hindered me from fully connecting with them as individual characters and a couple. Chance made for a sweet hero, I guess you could say that he was very in touch with his feelings and honest about them. This wasn't a bad thing but it brought him down a step in the ex-military, alpha rawr scale. It is nice to have the author switch it up every now and then though with the protagonists! Gwen didn't stand out for me as a character though I did like that she wasn't a spoiled little rich girl and was fiercely independent. The plot had several twists and turns that caught me by surprise and I did enjoy the secondary characters in the story. The whodunit kept me guessing up until the end.
Watch me was a good read all-in-all, but it was my least favorite story from Cynthia Eden which is always an auto-buy author for me. Although, I do plan on continuing the series, and look forward to it.

Love Cynthia Eden's books

Wow, was I excited to see a new series by Cynthia Eden. Watch Me is the first book, really more of a novella, since it’s not too long. Beautiful, rich Gwen Hawthorne has an unknown stalker. No it is not bodyguard Chance Valentine, though he too has been watching her for a long time. While parts of the story were predictable, I enjoyed the dialogue and chemistry between Gwen and Chance. And yes, I had no doubt that he would uncover the stalker’s identity and save the day. That’s one of the things that makes the story worth reading.
Watch Me is a very good contemporary read but I must admit I am particularly partial to her paranormal books especially the Purgatory series. One of the best parts of this book is meeting others who hopefully will also get their story in the future.
