It is not a Cinderella story

My wife has tried, unsuccessfully, to get me to read her ”hot” books. I never made past page 20. With Sensual Networking, she made a bet: “You will like this one. It is your style. It is not a Cinderella story. If you don’t like it, I will give you 20 dollars if you make a real attempt”.
I lost the bet, loved the book and read it twice already. Three times, if you count the American version, which, I must say, it is even better than the Brazilian one. Eager to check out the coming episodes!

A love-hate book

This book pushed my buttons!!!! I started a love-hate relationship with the main character which drove me nuts, at first I hated his guts, then I saw his other side and fell in love, only to start hating him again, and loving and so on. I read the whole saga very fast, so eager I was to see what was going to happen in the end. And what an ending!!!! I read it once again, this time slowly to fully grasp all the sub-plots and nuances. The author does leave clues the whole time, but we are too blind to see, that’s my tip to everyone I recommend this book. Be warned the first part is the slowest one, and the search really takes place in the second and third parts – nevertheless, the first one is the key to everything!

It works like those movies that you are lost in the beginning ...

The secret is the story and narrative style. It works like those movies that you are lost in the beginning and join the pieces things together as the story develops. The author often uses time shifting between present and past to explain why the characters act as they do today and by mid-book, you are totally taken by the characters and the plot. Because of the usage of present tense, many times I felt as if I were running alongside the main character, which was very interesting and unique. Sex continuously moves the whole plot, but it is far from being a central part of the story, in fact, it works almost as a side character. Very compelling and intriguing, one of my best books of 2014.
