Well It is The Fifth in a Series. . .

I bought the first two in this series then lost interest. So I picked up this one because it is the fifth in this series and by the fifth one, I expect more. More world building, more solutions, more character depth, and just more. And this was the continuation of the couple from the first story, a year into their relationship. Was it all I expected? No.

What bothers me the most is the digital information on my ereader says this story is 36,045 words. To convert that to pages is 80 pages. Yet the blurb says the story is 103 pages. To me that is not being honest for what we're paying for.

And I checked the next book in this series which is out. No page count. 468 KB which is less than what this book is: 505. So the next book is less than 80 pages and it's listed 'discounted' at $4.95.

I'm all for supporting an author and that they get paid for the work they do. What I don't like is misrepresentation in price vs content. I am paying for a book. I want my monies worth. And the thing with Siren Publishing is their works aren't lendable. So you either pay up or forget about it.

Now Marcy Jacks is a hit or miss with me. This series is halfway decent yet here I am comparing page space to cost. Because in this economy price matters. And that's another reason why I skipped some books in this series.

Mate of the High Dragon continues the story of the couple in the first book, Aris (dragon leader) and Conner (wolf omega). The ups and downs of these two are still evident as Conner's pregnancy continues. Of course being shifters they are thinking and wanting sex and finally resolve their issues. . . with sex. I'd say a good portion of this short book does revolve around their sex drives. No romance. Just getting their groove on. There is a betrayal that is uncovered and a harsh situation for another mated pair. And that whole kidnapping thing was glossed over, what five pages max, and yet the romps between Aris and Conner take up half the story. That's typical and such a waste as a page filler. What I would have enjoyed is glossing over the romps, and detail that situation with Roman and his mate.

While I enjoyed the continuing story of Aris and Conner as a topic, the story fell short. It isn't one I'd recommend. I was disappointed and I can't blame it all on the price. - Dan's Wife

How does this series keep improving? How can it deliver surprises to someone who has read so many m/m romances? I was upset that Siren publishing didn't release it's new books on Amazon until Thursday (so what if I have hundreds of other ebooks and paperbacks I could be reading - that's not the point!). Then they had the nerve to not only release sequels to two of my favorite series, but also the first in a new series by a favored author.
This is really a series you have to start from the beginning. There are so many dynamics and links between all five stories. You become apart of the dragon clan along with each new member. You learn a bit more in each book. Like in any family/clan/pack there are members you love, really dislike and those you're willing to give a second chance. That's how I feel about these wolves and dragons.
While the big macho alpha dragons were clumping around shouting a lot their smaller omega counterparts were sitting down talking, laughing, and bonding. Creating their own little pack within the clan.
I'm still trying to reconcile my feelings about what occurred in this story. I'm still upset that the author allowed the tragic actions to happen. And while I look forward to the next book in the series the actions in this one will stay with me for a long time.

OMG Marcy I think you hate Kendrick,I cried for both him and Roman. I don't want Roman with anyone else. I grew to love Kendrick and his little circle of friends, I couldn't enjoy Connor happy moment because I was so heart broken.

I think you need to make Aris more kick ass he's the damm Alpha after all.

I want Aiiween dead,dead, I want him to SUFFER. The little bastard.

Love the series but will pass if Roman has a new love
