About the Author
Michael Oliver-Semenov served as the first poet in residence for Blown, the magazine of cultural intelligence, and has since been published in a plethora of magazines and journals worldwide, including the Morning Star, Orbis, Mandala Review, and Ink Sweat and Tears. He is a freelance English teacher and occasionally contributes to the Siberian Times.

Intriguing vignette of an unusual marriage in an exotic location

Not great literature but interesting because of its intimate portrayal of ordinary Russian life in a Siberian city. The quixotic marriage of the Welsh author and a native Siberian is intriguing. I would have liked more personal information about the wife but that may be lacking due to her probable employment in a secret Russian nuclear facility. Also lacking is information on what Siberians think about their country's history, politics, economics, society, etc. Maybe the author had to be careful to protect his new family and also protect his own hard-won status as a naturalized Russian citizen.
