Please, Author Chase, We Want Some More

This novella is in a fantasy world of what Chicago might look like if its 1930s scene were transported to today's ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds. In that sense it's a bit startling, but more than that it's two main characters are totally off-the-wall when it comes to what you might expect.
Farris O'Laughlin (i believe the redhead on the cover) is the scorned and traumatized scion of an established crime family who is out for revenge on his brother and gang. He gets an unexpected cohort of sorts in Darien Shaunessy, who somehow hooks up to be his bodyguard and chauffeur, and from there your imagination is stolen and author Chase runs wild with it.
I was sucking my breath and ready for some serious action when this one suddenly came to an end. That's the reason it's getting a four star and not a five star review. I would like to see where this goes if there are other chapters, so to speak, coming along from author Chase, because these are two characters who could eventually take their places among m/m romance icons.

Highly Recommend!!

I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review. Let me first say I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but it was too short. I ended up buying Unconventional in Chicago in hopes that I will get more of Farris and Darien’s story.
My first thought was how anyone (even a gang leader) treat their brother this way. To me Farris is a man who loved and cared about anyone. I was touched that Farris was able to eventually get out the mental asylum and even able to start a relationship after 13 years. I loved how Darien was able to look past the outward signs that Farris is crazy.
Farris and Darien get together regardless of the revenge that Farris wants accomplish with his brother. I worry that this revenge factor will destroy Farris and his new relationship. Farris and Darien begin to work together and Darien finally reveals what he is really doing.
I hope that as the story continues in an Unconventional in Chicago that everyone has a happy ending. I high recommend this book to anyone who loves anthologies.

No Bravery by T.A.Chase is a fun first novella set in an alternate Chicago, where gangs still rule the city, as they did in the 1930s. The two MCs are an interesting mix of idealist freedom fighter in Darien Shaunessy and deeply scarred man bent on revenge in Farris O’Laughlin. It is easy to see the attraction between the two; Farris because Darien sees him as an attractive man despite his past demons and Darien because he deeply cares for people, both in general and specifically Farris. I enjoy stories that take present day and change a few facts to create a totally different world, in this case Chicago. I hope the author plans to chronicle the future adventures of these two as they try to correct old wrongs and hopefully create a new world for them and all citizens of Chicago.
