About the Author
When Faith was clearing out her attic many years ago, she found a book she'd written as a ten-year-old. On rereading it she realised that it was the love story of two boys. Over the years her fascination with the image of beautiful young men, coiled together as they fell head over heels in love, became a passion for her. Since that first innocent book—written in purple sparkly pen—she has written many stories, set in varied worlds, but always with two men finding their way to happiness. Still nothing much has changed because now she can be found in a daydream, wandering around the supermarket, or sitting in a meeting at work still dreaming up stories.

Powerful and Heartfelt

This isn't one of those sweet, idealized slave-romance books; it's often difficult to read, but not gratuitously violent or harrowing...all in all, it's honest and exploratory- about how being an owner, wielding limitless power over another human being, can and will alter an otherwise good man, and how being a slave can make you suddenly question everything and everyone around you, including yourself.
I found it touchingly beautiful how both Jimmy and Nate grow as individuals, and how they find themselves able to overcome so many challenges to do it together, too. Many books with similar topics end where "A Slow Process of Understanding" reaches about the halfway point, which renders it far more powerful; the aftermath, with all its messy confusion isn't glossed over but builds upon to create a more genuine, heartfelt story.
The characters are complex and are living in complex times and struggling with complex situations and emotions. It's not a simple read, nor even a particularly painful read, but it's thought provoking and well imagined. I enjoyed Jimmy's and Nate's journey and would certainly purchase it again.

There are an (over?) abundance of slave m/m books flooding the market, some more successfully written than others, each taking their own approach, from serious and harrowing to flippant pornography with plot scenarios. Some of the better, including this book, are:

Jordan Brewer's "The Virgin Master"
Grace R. Duncan's "Choices" (series)
Sabrina Deane's "Bran, The Slave Breakers" (series; book 2 and on is found on Goodreads as free downloads)
Caethes Faron's " Measure of Devotion" (series)
Brewer's is by far (IMO) the most difficult to read on this list, with its extreme, very descriptive violence. Duncan's is probably the most enjoyable, sexually charged, lightweight of this list, with Glass's possessing a shockingly unique world build and concept. Grey's is an amazing, memorable and beautiful endeavor. Deane's grows and evolves with each book to create something masterful and Faron's is a little bit of all of the above.
