A great start to the series

A great start to the series. Unleashed follows Prince Henry, who I took to be part Harry, part William, as he begins life at Cornell University.

Initially, he's thrilled to be away from the watchful eyes of England and the media spotlight. But he soon finds that things are no different in America, if anything they are worse. His hopes of finally being able to live, or Unleash, are dashed as reality sets in.

Henry finds that women love him, and unlike most guys who would take advantage of this, Henry who is a decent guy is repelled by women who only want him for his royal title, fame and money.

The story is actually split between Henry and Casey, who is the love interest. Casey has her own problems, in that she suffers from social anxiety disorder. Immediately, you can see the potential conflict that will prevent the two protagonists from being together. Casey is somewhat mysterious and I expect more to be revealed about her throughout the rest of the series. Why does she not know who Henry is, when everybody else does? The truth is revealed, I won't give it away.

Unleashed has an array of colorful secondary characters, such as Clyde, Henry's rival and Riley Myers, who is perhaps a take on a certain well-known singer. Riley, one of America's most famous stars soon makes her interest in Henry known - More conflict which keeps the pages turning. And finally we have Emily, an extremely likeable character and friend for Casey.

I'll be waiting for part 2.

A worthy read

This book is worthy of a read, it is a love story showing how hard it is to find true love when you are a royal, all the pitfalls involved. The book has other interests in it and is very un-put-downable. Well written and edited. Highly recommend.

Very enjoyable. I could tell who some of the characters were based on from real life. This series depicts an English prince at college in America where he meets and falls in love with an American girl, a minimalist who has no idea who he is. Recommended.

I love Rose Gardner and now I have another new favorite

If someone were to ask what my all time favorite series is, I'd have a hard time picking just one. However the Rose Gardner series is one I'd mention because it is awesome. Rose gets into shenanigans, sometimes through no fault of her own, and has a devil of a time trying to get out if it. There is suspense, drama, action, humor, and love. The characters are great and the writing is superb.

I have not read anything by Jana DeLeon except this but that's about to change. The eccentric ghost Helena is a hoot and I'd like to read more about her hoodlumery. These two characters mesh well together and I could envision lots of scenarios where they end up having to help each other out.

Awesome holiday novella!

I have read both, Jana's Ghost-In-Law series and Denise's Rose Gardner Mystery series. Bringing the characters together from these two series made this novella such a blast to read. You don't have to have read either of the series to enjoy this short story. Hilarious scenes and a great plot. Loved it!

All I can say is not long enough. I want more of these characters in the same story. The only thing missing were the girl from the Miss Fortune series and the rest of the mud bug girls. The authors did a wonderful job combining these two series and I can't wait for another. Maybe sic Helana on Skeeter and help Rose out

Good, basic geology book from Biblical perspective

"The Geology Book" is a nonfiction book about geology and how the rock formations we see around us came to be. The author assumed that he had a Christian audience and occasionally spoke in terms of "God created" and the like. He clearly explained each topic and defined the few scientific terms in the text (though there's also a glossary in the back).

There were full color pictures and illustrations. In the back, there's a 12 by 24 inch pull-out full-color poster titled "When the Earth Moves" with pictures from the book. I think 11-year-olds on up can easily understand the information in this book.

The introduction claims that the book will compare gradualism to catastrophic explanations for geological formations, but the author does so only in a very subtle way. I liked how it was handled, but I expected a more obvious comparison after reading the introduction. Overall, I'd recommend this book to children who are interested in learning more about geology from a scientist with a Christian perspective.

Chapter 1 explained the layers of Earth (crust, mantle, etc.). Chapter 2 described the rock types (igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic). Chapter 3 talked about the earth surface (plains, plateaus, mountains, erosional features like canyons). Chapter 4 described geological processes and rates (erosion, deposition, fossilization, volcanism, deformation of rocks, formation of metamorphic rocks, radioisotope decay and dating, etc.).

Chapter 5 discussed several ways to date the age of the earth (erosion, chemicals in the ocean, sediments in ocean, atmosphere, magnetic field). Chapter 6 covered the great geologic events of the past (Creation, Flood, Ice Age). Chapter 7 answered ten common questions (how was the Grand Canyon formed?, what causes the geysers in Yellowstone Park?, etc.). Chapter 8 discussed what the Bible says about what the future Earth will be like.

Excellent for homeschool study material

This book is a well-written study on geology. Starting with the different types of rocks and how they are formed, to geological formations, fossils and the like. Go to their website for a fantastic free study guide to accompany the book. This book includes evidence in observed history to back up theories of the young earth, biblical flood and post-flood activities such as stalactites that have formed under monuments built less than 200 years ago, fossilized bone from less than 50 years, and large canyons formed by recent floodwaters. This book is excellent in reporting how various dating methods work and the assumptions used to manipulate the results. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, water currents...it's all here!

In light of the recent devastation of the earthquake in South Asia, it is prudent to rediscover the potency of these things we call "natural disasters." Just one earthquake has caused so much damage; imagine how much more so with multiple earthquakes, floodwaters, and volcanic activity, just to touch the surface of what occurred during the great Flood of Noah.

Good Book

For openers, I'd like to add to the previous review as a Baptist by saying that we also still believe in the young earth view.

Also, to the reviewer that commented that this book belongs in the "religious section," if that were the case, then any book trying to present the case for evolution would belong there as well. In order for anything to be accepted as scientific fact, one criterea is that it has to be observable. Anything beyond that is restricted to the area of theory and (yes, even for an evolutionist) faith.

Now, onto the book itself.

The illustrations were indeed excellent, and the content was well written. It would probably go over the head of a first grader (unless the first grader can read words like "radioisotope" and is at least familiar with the periodic table of elements.) The book reads like a textbook, and isn't one I would picture a kid reading just for fun, unless he or she is deeply interested in geology, (but if they are, they'll get alot out of this book.) I'd recommend it as a homeschool textbook, or for a school library.

Good but could use more information

This is a fully laminated large fold out that will be weatherproof and will tuck away nicely just about anywhere. There is plenty of good information such as choking, childbirth, CPR, and basic contusions and broken bones. Also contains basic information about rescue hazards, and the fundamentals of first aid behavior. This is an excellent guid to keep close by ( mine is in my bug out bag ) as a quick reference guide to refer to in those times you may in an intense situation and need that little reminder of your first aid priorities.

Good Emergency First Aid Guide - Recommended

This Emergency First Aid: Recognition and Response to Medical Emergencies Pocket Guide is a good addition to a first aid kit or hiking/camping backpack. The guide is laminated and folds into a pamphlet size that can fit into a pocket, If needed.

The information provided covers all for the basic medical emergencies that could be realistically handled by the average person and generally contains very good instructions.

My only real issue with this is the fairly small text size that would be impossible for me to read without my glasses.

I would also recommend taking a basic first-aid class if you can find one locally in your area.

Jerusha Jones lives in a small town in the west end of the Columbia River Gorge. When she grows up, she fully intends to be a feisty old lady. An enjoyable cozy series

Meredith Morehouse, curator of the unusual Imogene Museum, is thrilled that her first annual fundraiser seems to be a huge success. While taking a break from the festivities, Meredith finds evidence of a theft. Someone has stolen a painting, a very ugly painting that was completed decades earlier and gifted to the museum by Cosmo Hagg, a distant relative of Director Rupert Hagg. Knowing that the painting isn't worth much, Meredith is convinced the answer to the theft lies in the history of the Hagg family. Since there is evidence the thief is familiar with the layout of the museum, Meredith is worried that more items could be stolen. With the help of her friends, she sets out to find a connection.

Jerusha Jones is the author of the Imogene Museum cozy mysteries. Faux Reel is the 5th book in this enjoyable series. The mysteries are always interesting, and the beautiful Columbia River Gorge area of Washington is an inviting setting, but the characters are the reason I am following this series. The people of the town of Platt's Landing are warm and inviting. They welcome newcomers with open arms and willingly see the good in people. The characters have unique personalities but they aren't quirky--they just seem like real people, the kind you would like to have as friends.

These books are a bit shorter than the usual cozy mystery. On the up side, you can finish the book in a day or two. On the down side, you can finish the book in a day or two!! I'm always sorry when these books end. Book 1 (Rock Bottom) is 99 cents. That's a great deal. If you are a cozy mystery fan, give this series a try.

I wish there were more stars to rate this series, it is fantastic. Ms. Jones has a definite star in Meredith Morehouse. Combining a mystery with a museum is the perfect combination for a "good read". Weaving in all the information on the artifacts in the museum gives a dignified and cultured aspect to the storyline. Having Meredith older than the usual 20 somethings is also a breath of adult fresh air. My only complaint is that I cannot put the Kindle down when I am reading this series, it is that good. I am waiting for the next adventure with baited breath.

My least favorite, but still a "favorite."

One of the problems with having four books that rated a "10" is that there is an unwarranted expectation that the fifth will also be a 10. I may be the only one who didn't (thoroughly) enjoy the introduction of Meredith's mother, at least not until she became part of the "investigation" into what was behind that painting. I also wasn't enamored with the Hollywood folk that show up in a small town that seemingly has nothing to do with "Hollywood folk." I understand why it has become necessary to add new characters, but this seemed a stretch.

Still, as I do with Ms. Jones' books, much as I tried to make it last, I finished in two nights. I just had to find out the answer(s) to the painting's mystery. (Btw, I worry about Tuppence being left alone so much!)

Would I buy another in the series? In a heartbeat! But I think that we shouldn't put so much pressure on the author to pump these out every 6-9 months.
